GELSENKIRCHEN. A sporting event for seriously ill children and their families: at the first St\u00f6lting Cup at Schalke, the St\u00f6lting Group's charity table football tournament, 16 teams from commercial enterprises and football clubs in the region took to the table football tables at the VELTINS Arena on Thursday, 13 March, raising \u20ac25,000 for a good cause. St\u00f6lting launched the regional cup to provide financial support to those who need it most. <\/span><\/strong>
\n\u201eAs<\/span><\/strong> As a family business, we bear responsibility \u2013 for our employees, our region and society. We use the strong team spirit of St\u00f6lting and our partners to combine sporting ambition and social commitment with the St\u00f6lting Cup,\u201c says Sebastian Mosbacher, CEO of St\u00f6lting Service Group GmbH.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

With the Cup, the St\u00f6lting Service Group is continuing its long-standing sporting commitment in the region and combining it with a charitable cause. Regional companies and clubs were specifically targeted as participants. The St\u00f6lting Cup thus expresses two of the company's core values: team spirit and regional solidarity.
\nAt the St\u00f6lting Cup, 16 teams from companies belonging to UnternehmensElf, as well as other companies and clubs from Gelsenkirchen and the surrounding region, compete against each other in a table football tournament. The UnternehmensElf initiative has already impressively demonstrated how much regional companies and stakeholders can achieve together. It was launched for EURO 2024 by the Emscher-Lippe employers' associations, FC Schalke 04, the city of Gelsenkirchen and the North Westphalia Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and has drawn attention to the strength of Gelsenkirchen as a business location with, among other things, large steel footballs from the member companies. St\u00f6lting Service Group GmbH is one of the founding members and actively promotes the idea of partnership-based cooperation. The St\u00f6lting Cup once again strengthens the sense of community and combines it with social commitment \u2013 in line with the responsibility that the company assumes as a regionally rooted employer.<\/span><\/p>\n

Teams from companies and clubs in the region<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The game was played in teams of two, with one additional player as a substitute. In addition to St\u00f6lting and FC Schalke 04, Volksbank Rhein-Ruhr, Borussia Dortmund, GELSEN-NET and many other companies also sent their own teams into the fray. Professional footballers Oliver Fink and Raphael Wolf from Fortuna D\u00fcsseldorf also competed together as a team. The games were hosted by legendary coach Peter Neururer and presenter J\u00f6rg Conradi. Three hours after kick-off at 5 p.m., the winner was decided: Team St\u00f6lting prevailed 9-6 against Team GELSEN-NET in the final and thus won the first St\u00f6lting Cup. The challenge cup, which will remain with the winners until the next St\u00f6lting Cup, was presented to the winners at an award ceremony by Dominik Mosbacher, Managing Director of the Hi Competence Group.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201eWe are delighted to have won the first St\u00f6lting Cup! The trophy will be given a place of honour in our club \u2013 but more importantly, our participation has enabled us to contribute to the important work of the Balthasar Children's and Youth Hospice Foundation. We would like to thank all participants for their generous donations, the sporting spirit with which they approached the tables, and the fairness with which the games were played. We had a lot of fun playing with and against the other teams and are already looking forward to next year's tournament,\u201c emphasises the winning team from St\u00f6lting.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201eDonations go exactly where they are really needed.\u201c<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The donations for the Balthasar Children's and Youth Hospice Foundation consist of the teams\u201e entry fees, voluntary donations from players and companies, and the auction of two box tickets for the Robbie Williams concert on 25 June 2025. The tickets were purchased by the Hi Competence Group \u2013 not for themselves, but as a gift for the children's hospice. A jersey signed by Olaf Thon was also presented to the children's hospice as a gift. This raised a total of \u20ac25,000. \u201cIn the Balthasar Children's and Youth Hospice Foundation, we have found an institution that ensures donations go exactly where they are really needed: to the youngest and most vulnerable members of our society,\" said Sebastian Mosbacher, CEO of the St\u00f6lting Service Group and himself a young father. The Balthasar Children's and Youth Hospice, based in Olpe, offers a total of twelve places for children and young people with incurable and life-shortening illnesses, as well as their families and carers.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201eWe are very grateful for the donation. It makes an important contribution to ensuring that we can continue our work in the future and help children and young people to make their final days fulfilling and positive,\u201c said Rebecca Kranz, deputy manager at the Balthasar Children's and Youth Hospice. During the handover, she invited everyone to come and see the facility in Olpe. <\/span><\/p>\n
