Stölting ensures safety at home European Championships

With more than ten international matches and six stadiums, Stölting ensured the safety of thousands of fans and numerous top footballers from all over Europe during the German football summer: In Gelsenkirchen, Stölting took on the role of main security service provider at the Arena AufSchalke, while in Düsseldorf, Stölting was responsible for the external security area, including the entrances, at the Merkur Spielarena. Up to 1,300 security personnel were deployed per match in Gelsenkirchen and Düsseldorf – and successfully so. All matches at the Arena AufSchalke and the Merkur Spielarena in Düsseldorf took place without any security-related incidents. In addition to these assignments, Stölting provided short-term security support in Dortmund, Cologne, Hamburg and Berlin – including at the final match in the Olympic Stadium. In Dortmund, Stölting was also responsible for security at the public viewings on Friedensplatz and at the accompanying programme of events.

The high level of vigilance of Stölting's security teams was demonstrated by a spectacular incident on 26 June, when a football fan took Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo by surprise by jumping from the stands as he made his way to the players' tunnel. A Stölting employee intervened in time – video footage of the incident went viral on social media. Even UEFA personally thanked the Stölting steward.

The successful European Championships on home soil will remain a special memory for everyone involved. „We can rightly be proud of the positive outcome of the European Championships. It was a truly outstanding achievement by our employees,“ emphasises Sebastian Mosbacher, Managing Director of Stölting.
