VIENNA. The Gelsenkirchen-based Stölting Service Group has secured a prestigious major customer in Austria: from July 2025, the new subsidiary Stölting Sicherheitsdienste AT Ost GmbH will be responsible for security at the stadium of Bundesliga football club FK Austria Wien. This is the first major success just one month after Stölting began operating outside Germany for the first time. „The new contract is a strong start for Stölting's market entry in Austria,“ says Dr Boris Westerfeld, Managing Director of Stölting Austria GmbH.
With this new major customer, Stölting is continuing its 125-year history of success and growth in Germany on the Austrian market. „Record title holders FK Austria Wien fit in perfectly with our German customers Borussia Dortmund, VFL Wolfsburg, VFL Bochum, FC Schalke and Fortuna Düsseldorf,“ says Dr Boris Westerfeld. „We will now enter into a similarly close business partnership with Austria Wien and become heavily involved in the club.“
Stölting Service Group GmbH had expanded into the Austrian market just one month earlier by acquiring a majority stake in Wagner RCP Security Holding, now Stölting Austria GmbH, a joint venture with Raiffeisen Continuum, which was already a shareholder. „The contract is therefore also a first milestone in the strategic realignment and partnership between Raiffeisen Continuum and Stölting – and will not be the last this year,“ said Dr Westerfeld.
Innovation meets tradition
The cooperation combines Stölting's expertise and innovative strength with a deep understanding of the specific requirements of the Austrian market. This has clearly also convinced those responsible at Austrian record title holders FK Austria Wien: „Stölting has offered us a holistic concept that goes far beyond the area of security,“ says Harald Zagiczek, Chief Financial Officer of FK Austria Wien. „This, combined with their many years of expertise, especially with regard to major events, has prompted us to set new impulses. We are looking forward to the upcoming collaboration and mutually beneficial partnership with great anticipation.“
Stölting core competencies for Austria
In addition to its involvement in sport, the Stölting Service Group is consistently pursuing its growth strategy and aims to establish its core competencies in Austria as well. The focus here is particularly on the areas of cleaning, security, personnel and catering. In Germany, Stölting has been a reliable partner in the public sector for many years – including in local public transport, ensuring safety at stations and on trains, track construction safety, guarding critical infrastructure and at major events such as concerts and trade fairs. In future, this expertise will also be brought into the Austrian holding company and expanded there in a targeted manner.
„Our goal is to establish the new Austrian group as an independent player in the domestic market – backed by the active support of the German family-owned company,“ explains Dr Boris Westerfeld. „As part of a strong, owner-managed group, the company, together with the Austrian holding company, is set to grow – both organically and inorganically – into one of the leading service providers in Austria in the coming years.“
Stölting is thus consistently continuing its growth course. Today, the company is represented at 40 locations with over 15,000 employees in Germany. Within 20 years, turnover has risen from around 3.5 million euros to just under 400 million euros.
