The Stölting Service Group continues to expand and plans to extend its company headquarters in Gelsenkirchen. To this end, a new office complex is being built at the „Graf Bismarck” site, with office space for rent and catering facilities (restaurants, bakery, etc.) on the ground floor. Exclusive penthouse apartments with roof terraces will also be built there.
The site is located in a prominent position, west of the quay wall of the harbour basin. The Rhine-Herne Canal runs along the northern edge of the site, while to the south, the site is connected via a cul-de-sac to Johannes-Rau-Allee, the main traffic artery of the Hafen Graf Bismarck planning area. The design concept for the planned building is characterised by an approximately 107-metre-long base structure running from north to south.
The new building forms the western boundary of the harbour area. A public square will be created between the harbour basin and the planned building. With its three protruding sections rising approximately eight metres above the ground, the building's appearance is reminiscent of typical structures found in industrial harbours, such as warehouses and crane installations.
The closed side surfaces are illuminated in a uniform grid pattern, creating a striking appearance for the entire building, even in the dark.
Construction began in October 2016 and completion is scheduled for spring 2018.
